Chattels & Fine Art Valuer specialising in the updating and renewal of pre-existing Valuation Documents of the kind formerly done by leading U.K. Auction Houses such as Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Bonhams, and in the past Phillips. The same applies to old documents from other Valuation sources such as Gurr Johns, Dreweatt Neate, Woolley & Wallis, and other out of town Auctioneers. It does not matter how old or out of date these Insurance Valuations are. All categories of Antiques, Pictures, Fine Art and all other Art Works of whatever type or period can be accurately re-assessed in today’s market. You may, when considering a revaluation, now decide not to revisit the companies which provided the original Insurance Valuation, choosing instead to work with a single Professional Advisor and Valuer. You may feel this an important point when considering the question of Security. Typically House Contents and Valuables
will range between £100K and £1M, though there is no upper limit. From
Autumn 2006 Valuations for Insurance in excess of £100K can also be provided
from scratch.

Arrangements for an Insurance Valuation also apply here when a Valuation for Capital Transfer Tax, or Inheritance Tax is required by Executors of Deceased Estates. Such Valuations are commonly called Probate Valuations. Recent Inland Revenue requirements which took effect in 2005/6 have made it much more necessary for these ‘Probate Valuations’ in Deceased Estates or Family Trusts to show an increased level of accuracy, not always demanded in past years. Inheritance Tax Valuations or Capital Transfer Tax Valuations can be provided without upward limit of value. Management of Disposal of Chattels by Sales at Auction or, in the case of nationally Important Works of Art, by Private Treaty will be investigated or undertaken on behalf of clients at no extra cost (except for out of pocket expenses), if that is required. These Valuations for ‘Probate’ are particularly necessary for substantial Landowners, other smaller Country Estates and London Houses where Chattels or Valuable Contents may form a significant part of the overall combined value in a Deceased Estate. It is not now uncommon for the Valuation of Contents in Property to exceed everything else. |
